The Round Rock Express beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 6-3 Wednesday night at Dell Diamond to end the Chihuahuas’ four-game winning streak. The teams have split the first two games of the series.
The Chihuahuas’ three runs came on Yonathan Perlaza’s sacrifice fly in the top of the first, Bryce Johnson’s RBI double in the fifth and Rodolfo Duran’s RBI single in the ninth. It was Johnson’s second straight game with a double. Duran went 3-for-4 to set a new season high for hits in a game. Leadoff hitter Clay Dungan had three walks and two stolen bases, becoming the first Chihuahuas player with multiple steals in a game since Dungan did it on May 1 at Oklahoma City. Left fielder Forrest Wall also stole a base Wednesday and is 11-for-11 this season in stolen base attempts.
Designated hitter Trenton Brooks went 1-for-4 to move his on-base streak to 10 games. El Paso reliever Carter Loewen pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings in the first Triple-A appearance of his career.
