The El Paso Chihuahuas scored twice in the eighth inning and three times in the ninth to come back and beat the Las Vegas Aviators 8-5 Thursday night at Las Vegas Ballpark. It was El Paso’s first win through the first three games of the series and their eighth win in their last 11 games overall.

Left fielder Tirso Ornelas went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, including a two-run tiebreaking single in the top of the ninth inning. Shortstop Clay Dungan led off and went 3-for-4 with a walk, his second straight three-hit game. Dungan has reached base in seven of his last nine plate appearances. Designated hitter Luis Campusano hit his ninth home run of the season in the fourth inning. It was a three-run homer and his second of the series that went over the center field fence.

Chihuahuas starting pitcher Jackson Wolf struck out eight batters and walked one. Between Double-A San Antonio and El Paso, Wolf has 44 combined strikeouts this season and only five walks. Reiss Knehr struck out three batters in the ninth inning to secure his league-leading eighth save.
