Daniel Johnson hit a walk-off solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday to give the El Paso Chihuahuas a 4-3 win over the Round Rock Express. The Chihuahuas have won three of the first four games in the series.
Johnson’s game-ending home run was the fifth for El Paso this season and the 16th in team history. It was the 11th walk-off win overall for the Chihuahuas this season. Johnson led the team with three hits Friday.
El Paso second baseman Tim Lopes went 1-for-5 with a stolen base, his 42nd steal of the season, which is tied with Salt Lake’s Jordyn Adams for the most in the Pacific Coast League. Chihuahuas starter Jay Groome allowed two earned runs in 5.1 innings and struck out seven Round Rock batters. Groome has 130 strikeouts this season, which passed Pedro Avila’s single-season team record for strikeouts in a season.
