Ryan Ward hit a game-ending inside-the-park home run to left-center field in the Oklahoma City Comets’ 4-3 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas in Game 1 of Thursday afternoon’s doubleheader. It was the first walk-off inside-the-park homer ever in a Chihuahuas game and the second inside-the-park home run against El Paso this season.

Chihuahuas right fielder Yonathan Perlaza went 1-for-4 with a single to advance his hitting streak to 21 games. El Paso second baseman Nate Mondou went 1-for-3 with a two-run double and a walk, which was the fourth consecutive game that he reached base multiple times.

Chihuahuas starter Austin Krob matched his season high by pitching five innings. He allowed two runs, struck out five and retired the final seven batters that he saw.

The Chihuahuas scored first in Game 2 but lost 12-5 to the Comets. El Paso is now 1-3 in doubleheader games this season.

Perlaza went 0-for-4, ending the longest hitting streak of his career at 21 games. Chihuahuas third baseman Clay Dungan stole two bases in Game 2 and he’s now 10-for-11 in stolen base attempts this season. El Paso leadoff hitter Tim Locastro went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk in Game 2 and he now has six hits and three RBIs through the first three games of the series. Chihuahuas center fielder Bryce Johnson hit a three-run double in the fourth inning and has driven in 10 runs in his first 11 games with El Paso this season.

Thursday’s doubleheader was scheduled to make up the game that was rained out on Tuesday night. The Comets have won two of the first three games of the series.
