The Sacramento River Cats beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 7-4 Thursday night at Southwest University Park to end El Paso’s three-game winning streak. It was Sacramento’s first win in the first three games of the series.
Chihuahuas designated hitter Yonathan Perlaza went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in the ninth inning. It extended his hitting streak to 16 games, which set a new career high. El Paso’s other two runs came in the second inning on a ground ball into a double play with the bases loaded from Mike Brosseau and an RBI single by first baseman Nate Mondou.
Sacramento starter Kyle Harrison pitched six innings and didn’t allow any earned runs, and he struck out a season-high eight batters. Chihuahuas relievers Harold Chirino, Kevin Kopps and Andrew Bellatti all pitched scoreless outings Thursday.
