Mason Black started on the mound in Eugene. He allowed three hits, three runs, walked three, and struck out four in his short outing. Abel Adames was awarded the win after pitching two innings, allowing only one run, and striking out four.

Despite Hillsboro’s big loss, they started the game hot. In the top of the first inning, center fielder A.J. Vukovich doubled on a line drive to right field and brought two runners home.

In the next inning, shortstop Jordan Lawlar singled on a ground ball to left field, and another runner scored to make the score 3-0.

Eugene got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Luis Toribio hit his 17th home run of the season over the right-center field wall.

The Emeralds walked away with the win in the third inning. It started with Simon Whiteman scoring after Hillboro’s pitcher Yilber Diaz walked in a run. Later in the inning, Robert Emery got hit by a pitch, and Vaun Brown scored. Soon after, Rodolfo Bone also got hit by a pitch, and Toribio scored. The bases stayed loaded after Najee Gaskins got hit by a pitch, and Bailey came home. A few batters later, Simon Whiteman singled on a ground ball to right field, and Emery crossed the plate to make the score 6-3.

Vaun Brown hit a grand slam over the left-center field wall to end the inning and Eugene’s hot inning to make the score 10-3.

In the top of the fifth inning, Deyvison De Los Santos hit his third home run of the season to right-center field to add one more run for Hillsboro.

The Emeralds will look to end the series on a good note for the final game of the homestand. On Monarcas night, the first pitch will be thrown at 4:05 pm PT and will be available to watch on MiLB.TV.
