EVERETT, Wash.- AquaSox first baseman Robert Perez has been named the Northwest League Hitter of the Week by Minor League Baseball. He becomes the first Frog to receive the honor this season.

In seven games from August 12-18, Perez was scorching hot at the plate. He went 12-for-26 with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs, good enough for a .462/.533/.769 slash line. His most notable hit was a three-run, 11th-inning walk-off blast on August 16 that gave the Frogs a crucial series win against division rival Tri-City, part of a 4-3 week for the AquaSox overall.
This week's hot hitting has been the reward of hard work and development for Perez, who has raised his average from .198 to .229 during the past seven days alone. After signing with the Mariners out of Venezuela and spending two seasons with the Mariners Dominican Summer League affiliate, Perez was rushed up to fill in at Triple-A Tacoma this spring as an 18-year-old. He was reassigned to Everett at the start of the AquaSox season, and the continuity of being at the same level has allowed the slugger to get comfortable.
Fresh off the thrilling 11-inning victory, the AquaSox will return to Funko Field for a seven-game homestand starting on Tuesday, August 20. The 'Sox will welcome the first-half division champion Spokane Indians for three games, followed by the defending Northwest League champion Eugene Emeralds for four games.
