FREDERICK, MD-The Winston-Salem Dash (3-0) collected a doubleheader sweep against the Frederick Keys (0-3) on Saturday afternoon at Nymeo Field. After a Mason McCoy double forced extra innings, Johan Cruz hit a three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to guide the Dash to an 8-5 triumph in game two. In game one, the visitors picked up a strong start from John Parke en route to a 4-1 win.
In the bottom of the seventh of game two, the Keys were down to their final out. Trailing 5-4, Jake Ring went to a 2-2 count against Luis Ledo before being hit with a pitch. That brought McCoy up to bat. Attacking the first pitch, the Keys leadoff man hit a ball of the right field wall to score Ring from first.

Going to extras for the first time, the Dash grabbed the lead for good in the top of the eighth. Starting with a runner at second base (per MiLB rules) Daniel Gonzalez singled to put men at the corners. That sent up Cruz who homered to left-center.
Ledo (1-0) shut the door the bottom of the eighth thanks to a double play and a fly out to right to earn the victory. Burke was tagged with the loss, surrendering three runs on five hits in two innings.
Frederick tied the game in the seventh after Winston-Salem plated three runs in their half of the fifth. With a runner at second, Zach Remillard singled home a run to cut a 4-2 deficit to a run. A ground from Yeyson Yrizzari followed, before a Jordan George single plated the go-ahead run.
The Keys got a pair of two-run home runs, with Trevor Craport hitting his first Carolina League blast in the second and JC Escarra adding a longball in the third.
DL Hall made the game one start for the Keys, and surrendered one run on three hits in three innings. He walked two and struck out six in his Advanced-A debut.
Hall's counterpart, Parke (1-0) made it through five stanzas en route to his first CL win of the year. He walked one and struck out three.
The only run allowed by Parke came in the second. Following a double by Craport, Willy Yahn hit a double to right to make it 1-1. Winston-Salem scored the final three, with a pair coming in the fourth. With two outs, back-to-back walks issued by Steven Klimek set the table for Luis Robert. He singled in one run, before an error in right by Zach Jarrett followed to make it 3-1 Dash.
A solo home run by Craig Dedelow followed in the fifth, while Codi Heur worked two scoreless innings to earn the save. Klimek (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit in 0.2 of an inning.
The Keys and the Dash conclude their four-game series on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Right-hander Matthias Dietz (0-0, --) starts for the Keys and will be opposed by Dash right-hander Blake Battenfield (0-0. --).
