Loons, Dodgers Continue Partnership

Player Development Contract Extended Through 2016
September 16, 2014

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Great Lakes Loons and Los Angeles Dodgers today announced an extension of their player development contract for an additional two seasons, making the Loons the Single-A Midwest League partner of the Dodgers through 2016.

"The Dodgers have been terrific partners through the first eight seasons of Loons baseball," said Loons Vice-President/General Manager Scott Litle. "It's a relationship that has been beneficial for both sides and we look forward to extending it for another two years."

The Loons have been affiliated with the Dodgers since the franchise began play in 2007. On May 25, 2008, Clayton Kershaw became the first former Loons player to debut in the major leagues with Los Angeles. Since then, the partnership has helped produce 32 major league players

The current Dodgers roster includes eight former Loons - Kershaw, Dee Gordon, Kenley Jansen, Scott Van Slyke, Joc Pederson, Carlos Frias, Paco Rodriguez and Pedro Baez.

The Loons have made the Midwest League playoffs three times during their inception, and contended for an Eastern Division wildcard playoff spot in 2014 until the final day of the season. The team welcomed its 2-millionth fan to Dow Diamond in June.

The Great Lakes Loons are an eighth-year Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. For tickets and more information, call 989-837-BALL or visit loons.com.
