Nuts’ Naylor Goes Deep Twice, Loons Winning Streak Snapped at Six

MIDLAND, Mich. – Myles Naylor of the Lansing Lugnuts (54-69) (25-34) hit two home runs in a 9-5 win over the Great Lakes Loons (71-52) (35-24) on a cloudy 69-degree Saturday night at Dow Diamond.
- For the second straight game, Chuck Davalan and Mairo Martinus each hit a home run. Davalan delivered his third home run of the series, sixth of August and 15th since July 1st. His 15 since July 1st lead the Midwest League. The Dodgers No. 6 prospect sent one 370 feet, a solo home run. Martinus solo shot in the ninth was his sixth of the month. The 21-year-old posted a .890 OPS in August.
- Lansing’s left fielder Myles Naylor drove in five runs on two home runs. A three-run shot in the first inning and two-run blast in the third inning. Jacob Frost permitted five earned runs and had five strikeouts in 3.1 innings.
- Eduardo Quintero had two hits and delivered an RBI double in the first inning. Both of Quintero’s hits were 100+ mph off the bat.
- Great Lakes went 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Mairo Martinus had an RBI single in the sixth. The Loons left a man at third base.
Rounding Things Out
West Michigan beat Peoria 9-1 and Lake County is still in action in Cedar Rapids. The Loons now have a 2.5 game lead over the Whitecaps and are four games up on the Captains in the Midwest League East Division second half standings. Great Lakes has seven games remaining this season, their magic number is five.
