Decisive Plays: A leadoff home run by Jose Fermin staked Memphis to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. An RBI double by Cesar Prieto made it 2-0 in the fourth, and an RBI single by Alfonso Rivas III made it 3-0 in the fifth. A solo home run by Thomas Saggese gave Memphis a 4-0 lead in the sixth. Gwinnett scored its lone run on an RBI groundout from Alejo Lopez to score Forrest Wall, making it 4-1 in the seventh.
Key Contributors: Lopez had the lone RBI, while Wall (1-for-3, BB) was the only Striper to reach base more than once. For Memphis, Robberse (8.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 SO) set a new career high in innings while Fermin and Saggese both homered for the Redbirds' first clouts of the series.
Noteworthy: Though held to a season-low of two hits, Gwinnett has yet to be shut out through 19 games in 2024.
