Crawdads Defeat Renegades 8-6

Homeruns Fuel Five-Inning Victory

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads took a rain-shortened game 8-6 over the Hudson Valley Renegades. The Crawdads jumped on Hudson Valley’s ace Drew Thorpe for four runs in the first inning. Cam Cauley walked and got into scoring position with a steal. The steal ended up not mattering as Tucker Mitchell

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads took a rain-shortened game 8-6 over the Hudson Valley Renegades.

The Crawdads jumped on Hudson Valley’s ace Drew Thorpe for four runs in the first inning. Cam Cauley walked and got into scoring position with a steal. The steal ended up not mattering as Tucker Mitchell drove a two-run homerun to left. Maximo Acosta doubled to center and came in to score on a single by Cody Freeman. Geisel Cepeda delivered the fourth straight hit to wrap up the rally and make it 4-0.

The offense kept the momentum going into the second, as Keyber Rodriguez and Abimelec Ortiz each hit solo homeruns.

Hudson Valley got on the board in the fourth with three runs.

The Crawdads responded with two more in the bottom half of the frame. Rodriguez singled and took third on a double by Cauley. Ortiz brought them both in with a double to left.

The Renegades scored three more in the top of the fifth but still trailed 8-6.

Storms hit in in the bottom of the fifth, causing the game to be delayed after the final out of the inning. After a delay, the game was called, with it being an 8-6 official game in favor of the Crawdads.

The Crawdads will go for the series split tomorrow afternoon at 2pm. It will a Llamas de Hickory game by the Greater Hickory International Council. It is also Church Bulletin Sunday by Catawba Shoe Store.
