BUFFALO, NY – The Iowa Cubs (14-10) dropped both games of the doubleheader today to the Buffalo Bisons (14-9) by scores of 5-3 and 10-3. The I-Cubs fell to 0-4 in twin bills this season.

In game one, Buffalo took a 3-0 lead in the first inning highlighted by a double from Will Robertson. Iowa cut the Buffalo lead to 3-2 in the second inning on a two-run double from Ali Sánchez and tied the game at 3-3 in the third as David Peralta drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Buffalo added a run in the fourth and fifth inning to secure the 5-3 win.

The I-Cubs took a 1-0 lead in game two on a second inning sacrifice fly from Bryce Windham. Buffalo gained a 2-1 advantage in the third inning and scored six runs in the fourth inning highlighted by a three-run homer by Orelvis Martinez to take an 8-1 lead. The Bisons added two more in the fifth and Iowa scored two runs in the sixth on a groundout by BJ Murray Jr. and a single from Curt Casali to make it 10-3, Buffalo.

POSTGAME NOTES:

  • Iowa issued 10 walks in game two, which is their most in a game this season.
