DES MOINES- Following Minor League Baseball’s announcement of the return of “Copa de la Diversión” or “Fun Cup” initiative that celebrates local Hispanic and Latino culture and heritage, the Iowa Cubs will bring back the Demonios de Des Moines for four games in 2021.

Iowa will be one of 76 minor league organizations to create a new moniker in the fifth season of MiLB’s “Copa” initiatives. This will mark the first time that the Demonios de Des Moines identity returns since it initially debuted for three games during the 2019 season.

The branding showcases the history of professional baseball in Des Moines that was created by the Des Moines Demons. As the professional baseball team in Des Moines from 1925-1937 and again from 1959-1961, the Demons were Western League Champions in 1925 and 1926 and also won the Three-I League title in 1959.

The first of four home dates for the Demonios de Des Moines will be played on Cinco de Mayo in just the second game of the season. First pitch for the Wednesday, May 5 game against the Indianapolis Indians is scheduled for 6:38 p.m. Additional “Copa” dates include Sunday, June 13; Sunday, July 11 and Sunday, August 29.

The Demonios de Des Moines branding has gained community support from presenting sponsors: Principal®, Prairie Meadows, Atlantic Bottling Company and Barilla.

Single game tickets for all May dates will go on-sale online on Saturday, April 24th at 7 a.m. These tickets will all be reserved seating and will be available for purchase online only as the organization introduces digital ticketing. Tickets for all remaining home games, including the three final “Copa” games will go on sale at a later date.

Fans can look forward to additional “Copa” information on specialty food items and promotional items including a Demonios bobblehead at a later date.
