SYRACUSE, NY – Three home runs from outfielder Trayce Thompson and timely hitting with runners in scoring position led to a 12-5 blowout win for the Syracuse Mets (25-16) over the visiting Iowa Cubs (20-23).

Syracuse got on the board first with a solo shot by Thompson to lead off the second inning, and Thompson added another home run in the fourth to make it 2-0.

Iowa would take the lead in the top of the fifth as Brennen Davis, Luis Vazquez, and BJ Murray Jr. crossed the plate even though the I-Cubs did not record a hit in frame. Iowa counted five walks, including three in a row, and a hit batter.

The Mets took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the inning as a double from Luke Ritter plated Luisangel Acuna and Carlos Cortes.

Syracuse would add eight more runs before it was said and done.

The home team scored two in the sixth and three in the seventh, both run-scoring hits coming with two outs, and three in the eighth, coming on the third home run of the night for Thompson.

Iowa pushed two across in the top of the ninth when a double by Owen Caissiedrove in Darius Hill and an Ali Sanchez single drove in Caissie.
