Jacksonville welcomes back Randel as skipper

A 13th-round pick by the Marlins in 2002 out of Long Beach State, Randel spent the entirety of his playing career in Miami's system. Randel reached as high as Triple-A Albuquerque across 824 minor league games from 2002-09, registering a career .267/.374/.439 batting line. His playing career culminated by helping Jacksonville win the 2009 Southern League championship, a season in which he slashed.253/.371/.426 with 12 home runs and 49 RBIs.

 

In 2010, Randel joined the Marlins' minor league coaching staff, beginning a two-season stint as the hitting coach of then-Low-A Greensboro. The Wilmington, N.C., native spent three years as Jacksonville's hitting coach from 2012-14 before earning his first managerial gig with Greensboro in 2015. After returning to the Grasshoppers as skipper for the 2016 campaign, Randel piloted High-A Jupiter in both 2017 and 2018. He enters the 2020 season with a career mark of 319-366 (.466).

 

Walton enters his third season in the Marlins' organization and second as the Jumbo Shrimp's pitching coach. In 2019, Walton guided Jacksonville's pitching staff to several league-leading marks, including runs (473), hits (958) and WHIP (1.15). The Jumbo Shrimp also finished second in the circuit in batting average against (.220), tied for second in walks issued (416) and third in ERA (3.26).

 

A native of Bakersfield, Calif., Walton pitched for the Oakland, Montreal and Colorado across four major league seasons from 1991-94. He was originally selected by the Athletics in the 16th round in the 1985 draft out of the University of Hawaii, where he was named a College Freshman All-American. Walton began his coaching career with Toronto in 1996, and served as the organization's minor-league pitching instructor from 1998-2002 before rising to become the Blue Jays' major league bullpen coach from 2003-09 and pitching coach from 2010-12. Prior to the 2018 campaign, which he spent as Jupiter's pitching coach, Walton had not coached since 2014, working instead as a pitching consultant with the Chicago Cubs.

 

Seabol is set to begin his first season in Miami's organization. The native of McKeesport, Pa., served as a hitting coach in the New York Yankees' organization from 2017-19, sandwiching the 2018 campaign with Low-A Charleston between stints with Rookie-level Pulaski.

 

An 88th-round pick by the Yankees out of West Virginia University in 1996, Seabol made his major league debut with New York in 2001. He returned to The Show for 59 games with St. Louis in 2005 before playing with Albuquerque, then the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate, in 2006 and 2007. Seabol's playing career ended after he spent the 2008-09 campaigns with Hiroshima of the Japanese Central League.

 

Ceballos returns as Jacksonville's defensive coach for the fourth consecutive season, with 2020 marking his eighth campaign in Miami's system. A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Ceballos played in the Marlins' organization from 2007-13, reaching as high Double-A Jacksonville for a one-game stint in 2012. He began coaching with the Marlins in 2014 with Greensboro. After two seasons with the Grasshoppers, Ceballos spent the 2016 campaign as a coach with Jupiter before joining the Jumbo Shrimp's staff in 2017.

 

A newcomer to Miami's organization, Roberts spent the previous 13 seasons with the Texas Rangers. He was an athletic trainer in Double-A (2007-08) and Triple-A (2009-15), earning the Pacific Coast League Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society with Round Rock in 2014. From 2015-19, Roberts served as the Rangers' minor league medical coordinator.

 

A native of Canberra, Australia, Roberts received his bachelor's degree in athletic training in 2001 from Middle Tennessee State University, where he pitched for two seasons. He worked as a trainer in the Los Angeles Dodgers' organization with the Rookie-level GCL Dodgers (2002-04), Low-A Columbus (2005) and High-A Vero Beach (2006) before joining Texas' system. Prior to coming to the United States, Roberts played in the Australian Professional League for two seasons with the Canberra Bushrangers and Hunter Eagles and was also a member of the Australian Junior Olympic squad that played in the 1994 World Championships in Brandon, Canada. He worked with the Australian team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

 

Sartoris debuted in the Marlins' organization in 2019 with Low-A Clinton as a strength and conditioning coach. Prior to joining Miami's system, Sartoris worked as a strength and conditioning coach at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., from 2016-18 and the director of strength and conditioning at Salem University in West Virginia from 2018-19. She graduated in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and exercise science from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville before earning her master's degree in kinesiology and exercise science in 2016 from Illinois State University.
