Kershaw Promoted to L.A. Dodgers
On Saturday, May 24th Suns ace Clayton Kershaw was promoted to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 6ft 3in left-hander posted a misleading 0-3 record with a 2.28 ERA in 2008 while in Jacksonville. Despite his win loss-record, Kershaw pitched in 10 games allowing only 32 hits, 16 runs and striking out 37.
Only 20 years old Kershaw was expected to take the fast track through the Dodgers farm system and has not disappointed. The organization mandated that Kershaw pitch no more than 25 innings per month expecting his services would be needed in the Majors down the stretch. After pitrching just one inning on Thursday against Carolina his call up seemed inevitable.
Kershaw has fared well on the mound at Chavez Ravine. In the Dodgers final exibition game against the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, he pitched four scoreless innings of relief and struck out six. He is the probable starter in the series finale on Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
