Brigham six scoreless innings in Jacksonville return

PEARL, Miss. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (1-2, 29-42) fell to the Mississippi Braves (2-1, 31-42) by a 4-3 score in the third game of the six-game series at Trustmark Park on Saturday night.

With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth, Mississippi's Alay Lago hit a walk-off RBI single to complete Mississippi's comeback 4-3 victory.
Jacksonville's Kyle Keller (1-3) took the loss, allowing the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Mississippi left-handed relief pitcher Corbin Clouse (2-0) earned the victory by working a scoreless top of the ninth.
The game was scoreless for the first seven innings. Jacksonville right-handed starting pitcher Jeff Brigham turned in six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts compared to one walk and three hits allowed in his first start coming off the disabled list yesterday, and overall his first start for Jacksonville since April. Mississippi left-handed starting pitcher Michael Mader worked his five innings in scoreless fashion as well with six strikeouts.
Jacksonville broke through with a run in the top of the eighth inning on an RBI single by Monte Harrison to give the Shrimp a 1-0 lead. The next batter Isan Díaz made it 3-0 on his two-run double, with Braves left-handed relief pitcher Adam McCreery giving up the first three runs of the game.
Mississippi responded with a three-run bottom of the eighth. Against Jacksonville right-handed relief pitcher Jose Pena, Daniel Lockhart delivered an RBI single to get the Braves on the board at 3-1. After Keller took over inheriting two runners, Tyler Neslony added an RBI single, then a Keller wild pitch during the at-bat of Alex Jackson scored Lockhart from third to tie the game 3-3.
The bottom of the ninth began with back-to-back singles by Connor Lien and Luis Marté. With one out Lockhart drew an intentional walk, then the next batter Lago delivered the walk-off RBI single to win the game 4-3.
The Jumbo Shrimp and Braves will continue their series with the fourth game of the six-game series on Sunday night at Trustmark Park at 6 p.m. eastern. Jacksonville right-hander Merandy Gonzalez (0-1, 3.43 ERA) will start for the Jumbo Shrimp against Mississippi right-hander Touki Toussaint (3-6, 3.41 ERA). The Jumbo Shrimp return home Thursday, June 28, to begin a six-game series with the Montgomery Biscuits on Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, with $1 12-oz. and $2 24-oz. beers at select locations, plus $1 sodas at the main concession stands. The game is Teacher Appreciation Night.
