Ian Dawkins Earns SAL Player of the Week

Leading the Intimidators (17-18) to a 5-2 record over the last week of play, Kannapolis' outfielder Ian Dawkins has been named the South Atlantic League Player of the Week.
Slashing .556 at the plate over the past seven games, the Sacramento State product is currently on an eight-game hit streak and has also reached base safely in 22 straight games.
Going 15-for-31 with four extra-base hits over the past week on the road, Dawkins has struck out only three times and has walked four times. With eight runs scored, Kannapolis' center fielder has collected a .613 OBP and a .778 OPS over the last week.
Dawkins' biggest game came on April 9 at Lexington, as he went 5-for-6 with three runs scored, a home run and two RBI. The five-hit game came in the middle of a four-game streak where Dawkins had at least two hits.
Coming into the first game of the week at Hickory on April 6, Dawkins was batting .264. With the seven-game road trip now over, Dawkins currently leads the team with a .331 avg.
