KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - The Kannapolis Intimidators (28-38) continued their series with the Greensboro Grasshoppers (42-25) on Friday Night and were unable to replicate their 14-run explosion from Thursday Night as they fell 4-1 at Intimidators Stadium supported by Atrium Health.
Jason Bilous (L, 2-4) took the mound for the Intimidators and threw three strong innings to begin the game to take the game scoreless into the fourth inning. However, after a walk and a single, Pat Dorrian hit a home run (6) to right field, scoring Connor Kaiser and Grant Koch, giving Greensboro a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth, Bryce Bush quickly replied with a home run (4) of his own, this one a solo shot to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Bilous, who's final line for the game read as: 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 9 K, 2 BB, was relieved after five by Wilber Perez.
After both teams scoring in the fourth inning, things were scoreless until the top of the seventh. Ji-Hwan Bae had a leadoff walk for Greensboro, and a Rodolfo Castro single to right field brought him in to score after the throw was just late at the plate, giving Greensboro a 4-1 lead.
Things were scoreless the rest of the way for both sides. After back-to-back hits with two outs in the bottom of the ninth from Johan Cruz and Corey Zangari, Michael Hickman came to the plate as the tying run. He grounded into a force out to end the game and brought the Intimidators to 13 total men left on base for the night.
Kannapolis will continue their series with Greensboro Saturday Night, as Jonathan Stiever (4-5, 4.83 ERA) will take the mound for the Intimidators.
