DURHAM, N.C. – The Coastal Plain League is excited to share an opportunity to partner with the Town of Mooresville and Temerity Baseball on a potential agreement to bring CPL baseball to Moor Park (pictured right) beginning in 2027.

Since its founding in 1997, the CPL has grown into one of the nation’s premier collegiate summer wood-bat leagues, featuring clubs across the Southeast and providing elite collegiate players with one of the country’s top summer development opportunities. As the league celebrates its 30th anniversary season in 2026, it has seen over 17,000 players across the United States, Canada, and several other countries, with over 1,800 of those being drafted by Major League Baseball clubs. Hundreds of others have gone on to play professional baseball via the independent circuit. Of those drafted, 212 of them have reached the Majors so far, including such names as Justin Verlander, Ryan Zimmerman, Kevin Youkilis, and Alec Bohm. It’s even had two alums play in the National Football League (NFL), highlighted by Russell Wilson, who led the Seattle Seahawks to two Super Bowls, winning it all in 2014.

Beyond developing on-field talent, CPL clubs have become valuable community assets, providing affordable family entertainment, fostering community engagement, and generating meaningful economic impact for their host cities. The CPL has welcomed nearly 12 million fans to its games so far and will only add to that this summer.

Through this partnership with Temerity Baseball, whose ownership group has extensive experience operating successful professional baseball organizations, the CPL looks forward to establishing a successful franchise in Mooresville and creating a lasting tradition of summer baseball at Moor Park for generations to come. The Lake Norman region is one of the fastest-growing areas in North Carolina, with a passionate fan base and a long history of supporting baseball, making Mooresville a natural fit for the league’s continued growth.

“We appreciate the Town of Mooresville’s thorough and competitive evaluation process and are excited about the opportunity to partner with both the Town and Temerity Baseball,” said CPL Commissioner Chip Allen. “Mooresville’s growth, strong baseball tradition, and passionate fan base make it an outstanding fit for the Coastal Plain League, and we look forward to the possibility of bringing CPL baseball to Moor Park.”
