FSL Honors Flying Tigers Sports Turf Crew

Lakeland, FL - Florida State League (FSL) President Ken Carson and the Sports Turf Crew Awards Committee today announced the winners of the FSL Sports Turf Crew Awards. The awards were initiated in 1990, and were selected by field managers and pitching coaches. The five awards are for Best Overall, Best Municipality and three Commendation Certificates.

The awards were initiated in 1990, and were selected by field managers and pitching coaches. The five awards are for Best Overall, Best Municipality and three Commendation Certificates.

 

The Flying Tigers were selected as the Best Municipality Award, which is given to be the best city or county operated sports turf crew in the league. The Flying Tigers sports turf crew is made up of City of Lakeland Parks and Recreation employees and is led by Sport Turf Manager Bryan French. This is the second Municipality Award for the Flying Tigers.

 

The Flying Tigers finished fourth overall in league voting. The Tampa Yankees won the Best Overall Award and Commendation Certificates were awarded to Clearwater, Bradenton and Jupiter/Palm Beach.

 

League President Ken Carson congratulates the field managers and pitching coaches for their cooperation and diligence in conducting the survey. Congratulations also goes to the Sports Turf Managers and their crews for their hard work, expertise, dedication and professionalism in providing excellent playing conditions for players and coaches.
