Pigs earn fifth shutout win of the season

(Buffalo, NY) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (53-66) got a strong start out of Colton Eastman (1-1) who earned his first AAA win in a 3-0 victory over the Buffalo Bisons (71-47) on Wednesday evening. The game was called after the final out of the top of the seventh inning due to inclement weather.

Eastman gave up just five hits and struck out four batters over six innings pitched. He threw 69 pitches and recorded 48 strikes. Mickey Moniak gave Lehigh Valley a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when he hit a home run against Anthony Kay (0-4). The home run was Moniak’s 13th of the season.

Darick Hall hit a sacrifice fly against Casey Lawrence in the top of the second inning to give Lehigh Valley a 2-0 lead. Moniak scored another run in the top of the sixth inning on a RBI groundout by Rafael Marchan that gave the Pigs a 3-0 lead.

Lehigh Valley and Buffalo play game two of their five game series on Thursday evening at Sahlen Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
