Pigs shut out in series finale in Syracuse

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (63-72) didn't score a run in their season-series finale against the Syracuse Mets (73-63) as they lost 2-0.

JoJo Romero (3-5) gave up just one run over 4 2/3 innings despite issuing four walks and striking out six batters. Jed Lowrie homered off Romero in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Syracuse a 1-0 lead.
Nick Pivetta pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief and Tyler Gilbert pitched 2/3's of an inning in relief without allowing a run. Rymer Liriano homered off Nick Vincent in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.
Ali Castillo extended his hitting streak to 10 games by going 2-for-4 at the plate.
Ervin Santana (4-4) pitched six shutout innings to earn the victory. Tyler Bashlor earned his eighth save of the season by pitching a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The IronPigs begin their final series of the season against the Pawtucket Red Sox at McCoy Stadium. A scheduled double-header begins on Friday night at 5:05 p.m.
