IronPigs finish series 2-4 against the Bisons

(Allentown, PA) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (36-30) were able to beat the Buffalo Bisons (37-27) 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. Darick Hall homered twice and the IronPigs used seven pitchers in the victory.

Lehigh Valley got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning against Mike Ellenbest. Will Toffey hit a two-run single that scored Mickey Moniak and Darick Hall to give the IronPigs a 2-0 lead. Buffalo answered with a run in the top of the second inning against Cristopher Sanchez in the top of the second inning as Cullen Large hit an RBI triple that scored Jordan Groshans.

Sanchez left the game after two innings pitched. Corey Oswalt (2-2) pitched two scoreless innings of relief before James Marvel, Jakob Hernandez, and Zach Warren all pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Hall hit his 16th home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning against Bowden Francis. The home run gave Lehigh Valley a 3-1 lead. Dalton Guthrie extended Lehigh Valley’s lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning as he hit an RBI single against Kyle Johnston that scored Scott Kingery.

Samad Taylor hit a sacrifice fly against Tyler Cyr in the top of the eighth inning that scored Eric Stamets and cut Lehigh Valley’s lead to 4-2. That was short lived as Hall homered for the second time in the game in the bottom of the eighth inning against Adrian Hernandez. The home run put Lehigh Valley ahead 5-2.

Braeden Ogle earned his first save of the season by pitching a scoreless top of the ninth inning.

The IronPigs continue their homestand on Tuesday as they welcome in the Norfolk Tides. First pitch on Tuesday is at 7:05 p.m.
