(Allentown, Pa) – Lehigh Valley IronPigs (31-40) took both games in Saturday’s double-header against the Worcester Red Sox (38-31). They won game one by a score of 10-7 and game two by a score of 6-4.

Game 1

The IronPigs were able to use the long ball as they hit four home runs against the WooSox. Worcester jumped out to a 3-0 lead though in the top of the first inning against Julian Garcia. Josh Ockimey hit a three-run home run, his 11th of the season. Jonathan Arauz added an RBI single in the top of the second inning to give Worcester a 4-0 lead.

Trailing 4-0, the Pigs were able to score five runs to take a 5-4 lead against Raynel Espinal (7-3). Mickey Moniak scored on a wild pitch then Charlie Tilson hit an RBI single to score Darick Hall. Daniel Brito followed with a three-run home run, his second in just three days. Yairo Munoz tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the third when he hit an RBI single to score Tate Matheny.

Moniak hit his 11th home run of the season in the bottom of the third inning to give Lehigh Valley a 6-5 lead. Matt Vierling followed with his second home run of the season. It’s the first time the Pigs went back-to-back with home runs. Tilson added an RBI double to give Lehigh Valley an 8-5 lead.

Matheny hit a two-run double to make it a one-run game in the top of the fourth inning, 8-7. Moniak hit his 12th home run of the season, a two-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Pigs a 10-7 lead. Mike Adams (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to earn his first triple-A win while Cam Bedrosian received his first save.

Game 2

Lehigh Valley jumped out to a 5-0 lead against John Schreiber (1-1) in the bottom of the first inning. They sent ten batters to the plate. Jorge Bonifacio, Daniel Brito, Darick Hall, and Charlie Tilson all had RBIs in the inning.

The WooSox scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning when Jonathan Arauz hit a two-run home run. The Pigs answered back with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Worcester scored a run in the top of the fifth and sixth innings.

David Paulino (3-2) earned the win by allowing three runs over five innings. Brady Lail picked up his first save of the season by allowing just one run over two innings.

The Pigs and WooSox wrap up their series on Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
