The Lehigh Valley IronPigs are looking for a new competitor for the between-innings Nazareth Ford Pork Race at Coca-Cola Park, and are asking fans to make the choice.

Now through Friday, Dec. 8, fans can visit IronPigsBaseball.com to nominate a racer to compete with the current group. The top five nominees will be announced in January with a fan vote determining the winner.

The current roster includes Diggity, Chris P. Bacon, Hambone and Barbie Q, who joined the racers ahead of the 2012 season. The new racer will add an extra layer of intrigue to coming seasons, as the race won't be limited to pork-related food items.
"It will be great to finally have some real competition around here," said Chris P. Bacon, who holds the record for most races won at Coca-Cola Park. "Even with a fifth racer joining, I'm happy to announce that I'll be the best once again in 2018."

"That's utter hogwash!" added Diggity. "Clearly I'm the best. Everyone loves me."
The Pork Race at Coca-Cola Park is one of the key attractions at IronPigs home games. Outside the park, the racers are regulars at community events around the Lehigh Valley.
"Being a racer is about more than just gameday commitments," Barbie Q said. "It's about representing the team and being a positive influence to our fans around the world. Oh, and never losing to Hambone."
While the current roster consists of pork-related food items, the IronPigs are open to any and all nominations. The team will be accepting suggestions through its website, but fans are encouraged to discuss and share their ideas via their favorite social media platforms using #NewPorkRacer.
A group of five finalists will be selected from the pool of nominees and fans will be asked to vote on the new racer, which will join the current roster in 2018.
