Getting to work immediately the IronPigs loaded the bases in the first. With two outs, Esteban Quiroz worked a walk to force in a run and Aramis Garcia followed with a base-clearing double to make it 4-0.

In the last of the first, the RailRiders scratched out a run on a two-out T.J. Rumfield double, but Phillips held the line and limited the damage.
