Allentown, Pennsylvania (May 22, 2024) – Despite smoking three homers for the second consecutive game, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (17-28) were doubled up by the Rochester Red Wings (23-21) by a final score of 10-5 on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park.

After a scoreless first two innings, the Red Wings hung a crooked number in the third. A sacrifice fly from Drew Millas started the scoring before a major two-out rally for Rochester. James Wood singled home a run before Travis Blankenhorn doubled and a single from Trey Lipscomb scored both runners. Juan Yepez then walked and Alex Call followed with a double to drive home Lipscomb. Carter Kieboom capped the inning with a three-run homer, his first of the season, to make it 8-0 Rochester.

Juan Yepez homered leading off the fifth for Rochester, his fifth of the year. Weston Wilson answered Yepez with a homer of his own to start the last of the fifth, his third of the year, to make it 9-1.

Scott Kingery joined the homer barrage with a solo shot in the sixth, trimming the ‘Pigs deficit to 9-2.

James Wood drilled a homer for a second consecutive day, a solo homer in the eighth and his eighth of the year, to put Rochester back up by eight.

In the last of the eighth, David Dahl launched a mammoth three-run homer, number seven on the year for him, to trim the Rochester lead to 10-5, but that was as close as the ‘Pigs got.

Joan Adon (2-3) picked up the win for the Red Wings, working six innings of two-run baseball, allowing just two hits and a walk, striking out two.

David Buchanan (3-3) was tagged with the loss for the IronPigs, allowing eight runs in 2.2 innings on nine hits and two walks.

The ‘Pigs and Red Wings continue their series on Thursday, May 23. First pitch is slated for 6:45 p.m. with Ricardo Pinto (0-1, 9.53) slated to go for Lehigh Valley while Rochester goes with Spenser Watkins (1-1, 5.06).
