TROY, NY - After splitting the first two games of the series the Spinners (4-5) took on the ValleyCats (5-4) hoping to win the series. Unfortunately it would not be their night.
Tri-City came out of the gate hot with four runs in the bottom of the first. Starting pitcher Hunter Haworth would go on to surrender five earned runs in three innings of work.
Lowell struck back in the top of the second when Devlin Granberg singled to lead off the inning. After moving him over to third, Ramfis Berroa sent a shot over the wall in left field to cut the lead in half.
Alberto Franco threw three innings of relief, allowing a pair of earned runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Recently converted reliever Danny Bethea struck out four in two innings of work but surrendered an earned run to make it 8-2 ValleyCats.
With the loss, the Spinners now head to Brooklyn for a three-game series. Alexander Montero takes the hill on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
