The Lynchburg Hillcats drought ends at 5 games. Game number 6 was a 12-7 victory for Lynchburg as they were able to hand the FredNats their first loss of the season in game 3 of their 6 game spread at the Bank of the James Stadium.

A solid opening 3 innings for Alex Clemmey helped the Hillcats put their best foot forward as he was able to hold the Fredericksburg lineup in check in the top half of the first.

The Hillcats would be the team to score first for the first time this season. Plating 5 off the backs of base hits from Juan Benjamin, Jaison Chourio, and Angel Genao.

Clemmey would face some turbulence in the second, but battle through it and come out even stronger in the third striking out the side in emphatic fashion. He would be relieved by Kyle Scott who would be the first Hillcats pitcher to pick up a win in 2024 but not before another 5-run inning this time coming in the bottom of the third would push the Hillcats into double digits.

The FredNats would battle back and make things interesting after a 4-run 7th which was kickstarted by a 400 plus foot home run hit by Elijah Green. But the Hillcats would hold on as Steven Perez would close things out going 2 and 1/3 innings strong to secure the victory in front of the home Hillcats faithful.

Chourio would go 3-3 with 2 walks by the days end, Genao knocked in a run while going 3-5, Wuilfredo Antunez would register his first base hit of 2024 while knocking in two runs of his own via the sacrifice fly and fielders choice as by game’s end the ‘Cats would have scored 12 times on 17 hits.

The Hillcats will look to pile another win in the win column on Saturday in what should be a long day of baseball at the Bank of the James Stadium starting at 4:00pm for first pitch of game 1 of the double header with game 2 starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of game 1. Both games will be 7 inning contests. Tickets are available at Lynchburg-hillcats.com.
