The Lynchburg Hillcats fell further out of playoff contention with a 7-0 loss to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers on Tuesday night.

Kannapolis took the lead early on and never let off the gas, as the Hillcats could only muster together five hits on the evening. Yorman Gomez did pitch well coming out of the bullpen, only giving up one run in his four innings of work.

The Cannon Ballers put three on the board in the second inning as Jhoneiker Betancourt delivered a three-run home run to put them in front. They would tack on two more in the third inning, before adding a run in the fourth and the seventh.

Kannapolis pitching held the Hillcats at bay all night as they struggled to get anything going. The Cannon Ballers never allowed more than two runners in the inning and only faced more than four batters in an inning once.

Lynchburg and Kannapolis will square off again on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Bank of the James Stadium.
