The Myrtle Beach Pelicans poured it on in game two of the series against the Lynchburg Hillcats, winning 15-2.

The Pelicans were jolted by an eight-run sixth inning to put themselves in the lead for good. Lynchburg struggled to do anything at the plate, only picking up six hits on the evening.

Myrtle Beach would jump out to a big lead early on as they would put four runs on the board in the third inning, including the fourth triple of the season from Jacob Wetzel. He leads all of the Carolina League in that category.

The fourth was more of the same as Christopher Paciolla would drill a home run to left to plate one before Christopher Hernandez would drive home two with a double to right.

Lynchburg would get a run back in the fourth inning as Wuilfredo Antunez doubled home Jaison Chourio to put Lynchburg on the board. Things would remain quiet until the sixth with the Pelicans would bring 12 men to the plate, capitalizing on struggling Hillcats pitchers to score eight in the frame.

With a 14-run lead, the Pelicans pulled off the gas pedal allowing Lynchburg to strike again in the bottom of the seventh inning. Juan Benjamin would pick up an RBI with a single to right that scored Antunez.

Pitching wise, Lynchburg struggled on the bump. Alex Clemmey continued his early season struggles despite two strong innings to open up the game. The bullpen struggled to keep things close as Abel Brito and the Hillcats defense blew up in the sixth.

The Hillcats will square off with the Pelicans again on Thursday night at Bank of the James Stadium with first pitch at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Lynchburg-hillcats.com.
