Bradenton Drops Game One to Palm Beach 2-1

BRADENTON, Fla. - In a low scoring, defensive-minded affair, it was the Palm Beach Cardinals who walked away as winners on Tuesday night at LECOM Park. The tight contest featured Cardinal shortstop Kramer Robertson scoring the only two runs for the visitors and the lone Marauder's run was scored on a balk with a runner on third base. 

   Marauders starting pitcher Eduardo Vera dueled Palm Beach righty Anthony Shew, as Vera outlasted his foe tossing six innings to Shew's five, but the lone run allowed by Vera took him out of contention for a win. Bradenton's lone run came in the top of the sixth inning when Adrian Valerio led the inning off with a single, then was moved to third after an errant pick off throw to first allowed Valerio to move up to third with two outs. He was then balked home when Cardinal reliever Jesus Cruz did not come set, allowing Valerio to score the home side's only run of the evening. Jordan Jess allowed a single run in the top of the ninth inning to give Palm Beach the lead for good. 

   Bradenton continues their three game set at home on Wednesday against Palm Beach, with RHP James Marvel starting for the Marauders and LHP Evan Kruczynski toeing the slab for the Cardinals, first pitch scheduled for 6:30 pm.
