In the first game for the Marauders featuring the new Minor League extra inning rules featuring a runner on second base to start each extra inning past nine, both teams traded runs early on then exploded for a combined 11 runs over the final two and half innings including three total in the 10th.

BRADENTON, Fla. - On the first Sunday day game of the 2018 season for the Bradenton Marauders, it took ten innings before the home team defeated the St. Lucie Mets in a back and forth affair. The game ended when Tyler Gaffney was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th to seal the victory.
    
   Tyler Gaffney started his big day with a leadoff double in the bottom of the third inning, and was brought around to score when Mets third baseman Michael Paez committed a throwing error on a Trae Arbet ground ball to give the Marauders a 1-0 lead. Mets shortstop Andrés Giménez, the number one prospect in the organization, blasted his first home run of the season in the 4th inning to tie the game up, and it would stay as such until the bottom of the 8th. The Marauders used three singles, three walks and a sacrifice fly to plate four runs in that inning, only to be matched by the visitor with four runs on three of their own in the top of the 9th. 
    
   With a runner beginning the 10th inning for both teams, Anthony Dimino and Jared Oliva respectively became their team's first ever runner to score under the new rule. After the Marauders tied the game, Tyler Gaffney came to the plate with the bases loaded after two singles and a fielding error set the stage for the former New England Patriot to get hit by the first pitch he saw and earned a walk off run batted in for his efforts. 
    
   The Marauders travel to Lakeland for a four game series beginning Monday with LHP Cam Vieux taking on Flying Tigers RHP Tom de Blok, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 pm. After four consecutive games in Lakeland, Bradenton will travel to Clearwater for a three game set before returning to LECOM Park on April 17th.
