Albuquerque's John Ely allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and two balls with three strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Jerry Sands started the scoring for the 'Topes when his sacrifice-fly brought in Elian Herrera in the first inning.
Two costly errors in the fourth inning by 'Birds third baseman Eugenio Velez resulted in two runs scored for Albuquerque as they took the 3-0 lead.
Memphis tacked on one run in both the fifth and sixth innings to cut the deficit to 3-2, which made way for Steven Hill to launch his 13th home run of the year, tying the game at 3-3.
In the ninth inning Albuquerque got to Memphis reliever Victor Marte scoring one run on a wild pitch, while Sands, who led his team with three RBI on the day, stuck again connecting on a two-run single.
Both teams combined for five errors on the night as the 'Topes stranded 22 men on base and the 'Birds accounted for 14 left on base.
