Memphis Bats Slowed by Sky Sox, 6-2

MEMPHIS, Tennessee - After a sluggish offensive night, the Memphis Redbirds had the tying run at the plate with one out in the bottom of the ninth but could not push anything across and lost a 6-2 game to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers) Thursday night at AutoZone Park.

Trailing 6-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Luke Voit doubled and went to third on a Rangel Ravelo single. Carson Kelly walked to load the bases, and after an out, Patrick Wisdom walked to make the score 6-2.
But the Sky Sox (38-26) retired the final two Redbirds (40-26) to strand the bases loaded and end the ballgame.
Until the ninth, Memphis has three hits in the game, all of which were singles by Wisdom. He was on base four times on the night.
Mike Mayers allowed four runs, but only one earned, on five hits in 5.0 innings on the mound. He struck out six. Kevin Herget , Miguel Socolovich , and Ryan Sherriff followed for Memphis and allowed two runs in the final four innings.
Taylor Jungmann gave up one run, which came in the second inning when Harrison Bader was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on a Wisdom single. Jungmann struck out seven and did not issue a walk.
Memphis' seven-game homestand concludes tomorrow night at 7:05 with the finale of the four-game series against Colorado Springs. The Redbirds then hit the road for eight games in nine days before returning to AutoZone Park on Monday, June 26.
