Despite having eight hits, BayBears leave 13 runners on base

MOBILE, Ala. (July 22, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, suffered their fifth straight loss, being shut out 7-0 by the Chattanooga Lookouts Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
The BayBears (42-65 overall, 12-16 second half) tallied eight hits in the game but left 13 runners on base. Matt Thaiss , Zach Houchins , and Sherman Johnson had multi-hit games, but the team went just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
Chattanooga (65-34, 23-6) began the game by scoring three runs on three hits in the first inning and added two more runs in the third off Grayson Long (5-6). Long exited the game after just three innings pitched. Jonathan Rodriguez added to the lead with a two-run homer in the sixth inning, his third of the series. The Lookouts have hit 10 home runs in the last four games.
Fernando Romero (9-6) pitched five scoreless innings, only gave up three hits, and struck out six batters in the win. Randy LeBlanc and Raul Fernandez both pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
The BayBears wrap up the five-game home series against Chattanooga Sunday at 5:05 p.m. CT. Right-handed pitcher Alex Klonowski (4-5, 4.01 ERA) is slated to make the start against righty Felix Jorge (8-1, 3.56 ERA) for the Lookouts.
