MOBILE, Ala. (July 29, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, jumped in front early but fell 8-5 to the Mississippi Braves Monday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Brandon Marsh hit his third home run of the season, a leadoff shot in the bottom of the first. It was Marsh's second home run of the month.
However, Tucker Davidson (6-6) recorded a quality start, holding the BayBears (41-64 overall, 14-23 second half) scoreless for the next four innings until a two-run Jordan Zimmerman double in the sixth.
The BayBears also tallied a pair of runs in the ninth inning on a Brendon Sanger RBI single and a Roberto Baldoquin RBI double. Baldoquin finished the game 3-for-4.
The Braves (51-55, 18-19) tallied two runs in the second and three in the fourth against Andrew Wantz (0-3). Daniel Lockhart hit a home run for the second straight game, a solo shot in the eighth.
The BayBears continue the five-game home series against Mississippi Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Tyler Carpenter (1-2, 4.04 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Ian Anderson (7-5, 2.66 ERA) for the Braves.
