PEARL, Miss. (April 14, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, were shut out by the Mississippi Braves 1-0 in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader but returned the favor with a 2-0 win in game two to wrap up the series at Trustmark Park.
GAME 1:
Matt Ball pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings, allowed just two hits, and struck out seven batters in his second start of the season. However, Mississippi plated a run against Zac Ryan (1-2) in the bottom of the sixth on a CJ Alexander sacrifice fly to break the deadlock.
The BayBears left nine runners stranded and failed to score a run, despite loading the bases in the fourth and putting two on base in the fifth. Kyle Muller, Jonathan Aro, and Josh Graham (1-0) walked nine batters but struck out 10, only gave up just two hits, and combined for the shutout.

The BayBears (4-5) scoreless streak extended to 18 innings, but Mobile finally broke through with a pair of runs in the eighth inning to blank Mississippi (3-5) in the series finale.
Jack Kruger delivered with an RBI single off Jeremy Walker (0-1) to plate Jahmai Jones in the extra frame. Brandon Marsh scored on a Roberto Baldoquin sacrifice fly two batters later to double the lead.
Patrick Sandoval struck out a career-high 11 batters in five scoreless innings. Joe Gatto (1-0) retired all six batters he faced to earn the win in relief, and Ryan Clark held the Braves scoreless in the eighth to complete the shutout and pick up his first save.
