The Mud Hens powered their way to a double-header sweep over Columbus on Saturday afternoon. Powered by J.D. Martinez, Toledo pounded Columbus 8-1 in game one and battled out a 7-6 victory in game two.
Martinez was a combined 4-for-7 with four home runs and seven RBI. Martinez now has 10 home runs in the month of April.
Ezequiel Carerra was also a force at the plate on Saturday, combining for five hits in eight plate appearances with three RBI. Hernan Perez also recorded five hits between the two games.
Toledo pitchers Duane Below and Jhan Marinez each earned a victory. Below is now 2-0 on the season with 1.93 ERA with 13 strikeouts in three starts.
The Hens and Clippers will have time to enjoy Easter Sunday with an off day before getting back to work on Monday night in Columbus.
First pitch for Monday is slated for 6:35 p.m.
