MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (February 22, 2019) - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans have moved their Ed Piotrowski Bobblehead night from Saturday, April 6 to Sunday, April 7. This change comes after learning that WPDE Chief Meteorologist Ed Piotrowski has received the incredible honor of being asked to present at the National Tropical Weather Conference in South Padre Island, Texas on Saturday, April 6. In addition to presenting at the conference, he will receive the 2019 John Coleman Award, distinguishing Piotrowski as the best national broadcaster before, during and after a hurricane. The adjusted schedule allows for Piotrowski to present at the conference and also attend the Sunday-night game at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The Pelicans will now give away the community heroes card set to the first 1,000 fans on Saturday and the Piotrowski bobblehead to the first 1,000 fans on Sunday.
"It is really important for me to share what I have learned here in the Carolinas with some of the best weather experts and meteorologists in the world," Ed Piotrowski said. "I appreciate the Pelicans being flexible with their schedule, as this bobblehead night means a lot to me as well."
Prior to the card set giveaway, Pelicans' general manager Ryan Moore will be unveiling the first four community heroes in an interview with The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore and Stephanie Abrams. This interview will take place on Wednesday, February 27 at 8:40 a.m. on America's Morning Headquarters. The remaining members of the community heroes will be announced along with the Pelicans' promotional schedule in early March as we draw closer to Opening Day.
Single-game tickets will be available on March 14 with the first Thirsty Thursday of the season as part of the Season Kick-Off Party. The event includes live music from Julio Navarro, $1.00 Bud and Bud Light drafts, $2.00 craft drafts, and 1/2 price Duplin Winery wines from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free, and all fans are welcome to attend.
The Pelicans' 2019 season kicks off on April 4 against the Lynchburg Hillcats. Season tickets are available now. For more information or to purchase tickets visit myrtlebeachpelicans.com or call 843-918-6000.
