Portland, ME – Despite another home run from Samad Taylor and an early six-run lead, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) took a 9-8 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.

The Fisher Cats built a 7-1 lead after 3.5 innings on a sacrifice fly from Otto Lopez in the first, a Samad Taylor home run and an LJ Talley RB single in the third, and a four-run rally in the fourth. In the big inning, New Hampshire got a two-run single from Lopez, an RBI base hit from Gabriel Moreno, and another run-scoring single from Talley.

Portland's comeback began with a two-run homer from Tate Matheny in the fourth to cut the lead to 7-3. After New Hampshire stranded the bases loaded in the fifth, Tanner Nishioka hit a solo homer, and Triston Casas delivered an RBI single to make it 7-5.

In the seventh, two singles led to a three-run home run for Joey Meneses, giving Portland an 8-7 lead.

The Fisher Cats tied the game when Samad Taylor doubled in the eighth and Austin Martin singled him home. Taylor finished 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, and three walks.

Portland took the lead for good with an RBI double from Ryan Fitzgerald in the bottom of the eighth, and Jose Adames (S, 9) finished off another win for Portland.

The series continues in Portland through Sunday, with play-by-play coverage on AM 610 and the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.

The Fisher Cats return home on Tuesday, June 15 to start a six-game series against the Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies) at Delta Dental Stadium. For media requests, please email Tyler Murray at [email protected].
