Fisher Cats Spring Training Games - Week 1
The first week of minor league games has come and gone for the Fisher Cats, and through the first five contests New Hampshire is 2-3 in Florida. You can't glean too much from the early-season stats, but outfielder Marcus Knecht is off to a good start, as is one-time Nashua resident K.C. Hobson. The roster is likely to change before the team comes north as more players are filtered from big league camp to the minors. An update on each game during the first week is below.
Tues, March 11 - L, 6-4 v. Reading
Daniel Norris made his spring debut, taking the loss after allowing one run over two innings. Matt Newman and Aaron Munoz each had two hits with the latter contributing a double and an RBI.
Thu, March 13 - W, 1-0 v. Altoona
Ben White looked good during his first stint on the mound, tossing three shutout innings with four strikeouts. Jason Leblebijian drove in the game's only run, going 2-3 with a double.
Fri, March 14 - W, 8-1 v. Reading
John Anderson got the win on the mound with two scoreless innings of work. The spotlight, however, belonged to Marcus Knecht. The Canadian outfielder was 3-4 with a home run and four RBI.
Sat, March 15 - L, 10-2 v. Reading
The Fightin Phils evened up the scored on Saturday with a 10-2 rout. Former Red Sox and Blue Jays pitcher Tomo Ohka displayed his knuckleball to minor leaguers for the first time, and gave up four runs over 2.0 innings. First baseman Kevin Patterson delivered a home run.
Sun, March 16 - L, 9-8 v. Trenton
In a slugfest, Ian Kadish was the only pitcher who didn't allow a run. Outfielder Nick Baligod was 2-4 with a double and a triple. Hobson blasted a home run as part of a two-hit, 4-RBI effort.
