Jeff Brigham dealt seven innings and earned his first Triple-A victory as the New Orleans Baby Cakes come from behind to defeat the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 4-2.
Brigham (1-0), originally a Dodgers draft pick in 2014, scattered eight hits, walked one and struck out five. The right-hander allowed both runs in the first inning when Angelo Mora singled and Edwin Rios doubled to lead off the game. Mora scored on a Kyle Farmer ground out, and Alex Verdugo singled to drive home Rios.
The Baby Cakes got on the board in the fourth following a leadoff walk by Isan Diaz, one of the Marlins' top prospects who was making his Triple-A debut. Diaz scored on a single by Austin Dean to slice the deficit in half, and the 'Cakes went in front to stay an inning later.
Brigham helped his cause by stroking a single to ignite the fifth-inning rally. A double by Magneuris Sierra put two runners in scoring position, and one out later, Eric Campbell's single plated both runners to put New Orleans ahead. Campbell scored later in the frame on a throwing error.
A pair of relievers making their first appearances since returning from the disabled list finished off the victory, as Joe Gunkel tossed a perfect eight inning, and Jumbo Diaz worked around a leadoff single in the ninth to record his team-leading seventh save.
Logan Bawcom (0-1) took the loss for the Dodgers after allowing four runs - three earned - and six hits in 5 1/3 innings.
The 'Cakes won the first and last games in the five-game series, and continue the road trip on Friday night in Des Moines for the first of three against the Iowa Cubs.
