The New Orleans Baby Cakes rallied for one run in the ninth inning and another in the 10th to defeat the Round Rock Express, 8-7 on Saturday night.
The 'Cakes improved to 66-64, and are two games above .500 for the first time since May 21.
After Juan Centeno broke a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI single, the Baby Cakes rallied in the ninth when Peter O'Brien reached on an error, advanced to third on a J.B. Shuck double, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Cristhian Adames.
Jumbo Diaz (5-6) kept the Express at bay in the bottom half to force extra innings, and the 'Cakes took the lead in the 10th on Chris Bostick's fielder's choice grounder. Jose Quijada retired the side in order in the bottom of the 10th to pick up his third save.
Four different Baby Cakes collected two hits, led by Adames, who drove in three runs. Lewis Brinson went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in the first game of his rehab assignment with New Orleans.
Sandy Alcantara was gifted leads of 3-1, 4-2, and 5-3, but could not protect the two-run cushion each time. The right-hander was charged with five runs - four earned - on nine hits in six innings. He struck out four without a walk.
Each of the first four hitters in the Round Rock lineup collected two hits, including a home run by Tommy Joseph, his 19th of the season.
The 'Cakes and Express meet in game three of the series on Sunday at 6:05 p.m.
