Wisdom named Texas League Player of the Month

Springfield, MO - The Texas League announced on Thursday that Springfield Cardinals 3B Patrick Wisdom has been named the Texas League Player of the Month for the month of June.

Wisdom, 23, helped power the Cardinals to a 16-10 record in June, registering a .309 batting average with seven home runs and 23 RBIs in 25 games. He finished the month tied for the Texas League lead, and tied for 2nd in all of Double-A, in home runs and RBIs, leading the club in both categories. One of Wisdom's best stretches throughout the month was the week of June 15 - 21, when he hit .321 (9x28) with four home runs and 13 RBIs through the seven games en route to the Texas League Player of the Week Award.

On the season, the Murrieta, California native is hitting .267 with eight home runs and 37 RBIs, tying for the team lead in long-balls and ranking 2nd in runs driven home. In his second season with Springfield, he entered the campaign ranked by Baseball America as the Cardinals #20 Prospect. Wisdom was selected by St. Louis in the 1st round of the 2012 June Draft out of St. Mary's College of California.
