Play Ball Skills Competition | June 5-6 (FREE)

Calling all ballplayers ages 5-12! Join us at Route 66 Stadium on Friday, June 5 for our annual Play Ball Skills Competition! Hit, run and throw your way into our first ever All-Star Game on Saturday, June 6 where select players* who stand out during Friday's skills competition will have the chance to show off their talents against the best of the best on Saturday. This event is hosted completely free of charge for those who register beforehand.

*Only players who attend the Skills Competition will be considered for the All-Star Game.

The Skills Competition will have three groups on June 5:

Ages 5-6 | 9 - 10 AM

Ages 7-9 | 10 - 11 AM

Ages 10-12 | 11 AM - 12 PM

Award-winning Route 66 Stadium provides Southwest Missouri and the Ozarks with a memorable setting for professional & collegiate baseball and a variety of special events in the heart of downtown Springfield, playing host to the Springfield Cardinals (Double-A Minor League Baseball affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) and the Missouri State Bears (NCAA Division 1) since 2005.

Opened in 2025, the Executive Level at Hammons Field is our most premium rental area. With four adjacent top-of-the-line suites which have the absolute best view of the field, the Executive Level can be scaled up or down for personal or professional get-togethers like company meetings, Christmas parties, birthday parties and more!

The Training Facility at Hammons Field is our largest indoor event space. Perfect for awards ceremonies, company retreats, memorabilia shows, luncheons and baseball/softball practices, the Training Facility offers a large and maluable temperature controlled space that can be adjusted to fit any event needs.

The Entire Stadium is rentable for large scale events. An entire stadium rental would include all areas showcased on this webpage and would be intended for groups with anticipated attendees in the hundreds or thousands. With an occupancy of roughly 10,500 (7,986 stadium seats), the Entire Stadium is perfect for large community events like concerts, graduations, benefits or a variety of fairs. Previous large-scale events include Dinner on the Diamond, Celebrate Springfield and September 11 Stair Climb for Charity.

Our Hammons Field Clubhouses are a one-of-a-kind event space that delight baseball lovers and casual fans alike. With both home and road clubhouses, each offer a temperature controlled indoor space good for smaller scale events like company meetings or birthday parties. No where else in Southwest Missouri can an event take place in such a unique space.

Our Baseball Field at Hammons Field has won multiple awards not only for the region but has received nationwide recognition, including the 2024 SFMA Professional Baseball Field of the Year. Rentable for more basic baseball events like high school/youth/club games, home run derbies and slow pitch games, but can also be used for more unique events like cornhole, dodgeball and wiffleball games/tournaments. The field is the perfect place to finish a 5K or Fun Run.
