Bandits Shut Out Clinton to Open Series

The Quad Cities River Bandits recorded their seventh shutout of the season in taking the first game of a series against the Clinton LumberKings by a 4-0 score on Tuesday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The win moved the Bandits back within two games of first place in the Western Division.
The Bandits did not wait long to get on the board. In the bottom of the first, Alfredo Angarita reached base via walk and quickly moved to third on a double down the left field line off the bat of Jake Meyers. After Corey Julks rolled to third for the first out, Bryan De La Cruz lined a single into left field to score both runners and give the River Bandits a 2-0 lead.   
The lead remained at two until the bottom of the sixth inning. Meyers opened the frame with his second double of the game and moved to third when Julks reached base on an infield single. De La Cruz reached on another infield single to the left side and Meyers scored on a throwing error by third baseman Eugene Helder on the play to make it 3-0.

Dean Deetz worked one inning as the starter in hist first rehab appearance with the River Bandits. He allowed one hit, walked a pair, and recorded one strikeout in a scoreless frame. Enoli Paredes dominated during a 5.0 inning relief outing. The right-hander racked up seven strikeouts and surrendered just a walk and one hit. He retired the first 14 batters he faced in the game. Yohan Ramirez finished the game with 3.0 innings on the mound during which he allowed two hits and a walk with six strikeouts.  
The Bandits finished with 11 hits as Meyers and De La Cruz each compiled three. Meyers doubled twice to raise his season total to 18.
The River Bandits (35-30) will once again host the Clinton LumberKings (37-28) on Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. The River Bandits will have RHP Leovanny Rodriguez (2-0, 4.09) on the mound as the starter in a match-up with Clinton RHP Clay Chandler (3-1, 3.40)
