Bouchard Drives Home a Pair in 5-2 Loss

GREENSBORO- Tuesday afternoon the Home Run ball favored the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Asheville fell by a final score of 5-2 thanks to a pair of two-run Home Runs hit by the home team. The Tourists had several chances to score but left a season-high 12 runners on base in the loss.
The Grasshoppers jumped out to a 1-0 lead but the Tourists tied the score in the top of the fourth. Sean Bouchard hit an RBI single with two outs to plate Chad Spanberger ; who led off the frame with a double.

In the bottom of the fourth, Greensboro received a two-run Home Run by Marcos Rivera to take a 3-1 lead. Bouchard brought the Tourists back within a run on another two-out RBI single in the sixth.
The game remained 3-2 until the bottom of the eighth. After a lead-off single for the Grasshoppers, Will Allen launched a two-run Home Run to right field. Asheville loaded the bases in the top of the ninth but a strikeout ended the Tourists hopes for a comeback.
Todd Czinege and Matt McLaughlin joined Bouchard with two-hit performances. Lucas Gilbreath limited the Grasshoppers to three runs over five innings but suffered the tough luck loss. Erick Julio spun a pair of scoreless innings out of Asheville's bullpen.
Following Wednesday's off day, Asheville will open up an eight-game homestand that begins Thursday night against the Greenville professional baseball team. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
